Are you curious to know what breeds might make up your dog’s mutt-igree? So are we! Often times, the breeds of rescue dogs are just good guesses based on appearance. DNA tests take the guesswork out of knowing your dog’s breeds. (And plus, it’s just plain fun!)

Happy Paws Rescue is selling Wisdom Panel Mixed Breed DNA kits as a fundraiser. The kits are $65 (as compared to $75 on Wisdom Panel’s web site.) You can choose to pick-up up your kit at one of our adoption events or have it shipped to you (add $5.) Please allow about one week for shipping.

Here’s how it works:

1. Purchase a kit using the PayPal button at the bottom of the page. One of our volunteers will confirm receipt of your order. (If you’d rather pay by cash or check, please email us at happypawsrescue@gmail.com.)
2. When you pick up your kit or receive it in the mail, all of the directions will be included in the box. You will swab the inside of your dog’s cheek and send the sample directly to Wisdom Panel. (A pre-paid envelope is included.)
3. The results of the DNA test will be emailed to you 2-3 weeks after your sample is received. To see a sample of the results, click here.
4. If you’d like, we’d invite you to email us the results! We’ll post a picture of your dog on our Facebook page and ask our supporters to guess the breeds. (The muttier, the better!)
