Maybelle enjoying "retirement" from her work as a research beagle

Happy Paws Rescue often takes in purebred beagles from biomedical research laboratories. We are currently working with Beagle Rescue League to save 26 beagles from a research lab that is shutting down for organizational purposes. All beagles will be placed in foster homes and vetted, including spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, before being adopted to loving families.

So far we have taken in two sweet girls, Maybelle and Polly, and will take in three more beagles the weekend of January 7. We will continue to take in dogs as space permits in our foster homes. Continue to check the Adoptable Animals page on our Web site for a current listing.

Beagles are used in biomedical testing because of their size and sweet personalities. Click here to read more about these “lab beagles” and why they make awesome family pets!
